To preface this review, I want to say that I am so tired of the first-person urban fantasies and supernatural romances narrated by the tough, no-nonsense female main character who (usually) dissolve into goo at the sight of the male lead. I've read a ton of these, and after awhile the stories and characters all start to blend together.
This book is a first-person tale of a vampire thief-for-hire, her charming client, and the extremely awesome and kick-ass drag queen who tags along for the ride. Raylene has very confident voice, and while the voice does falter occasionally, she remains a believable character with layers of depth beyond the typical voice issues I have with this sort of book.
Not perfect, but I enjoyed this enough to pick up the next in the series.
