I have mixed feelings about this book. This book was okay, but I hope the next one is better.
The overall story of the book was not very cohesive and felt disjointed and random. I would have preferred a better plotted and paced story.
Briggs continues to handle the aftermath of Mercy's rape in a previous book with sensitivity. I like both Mercy and Adam as characters, and I do feel like their relationship is growing pretty organically and not too rushed, but for some reason I find their relationship kind of blah and boring now that they're a couple.
Samuel's story was wrapped up too quickly and neatly. From an immensely talented writer like Briggs this was a major disappointment.
